SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
SPECIAL ALBUM REVIEW ISSUE submissions closed
Mycelium Issue 2.5
This short, special issue will be dedicated to reviews of albums and songs that helped you as a creative being get through periods of lockdown, quarantine, and mass death. Our second issue was on the topic of sustainability and this is an offshoot of that, asking authors and reviewers to think about the music that sustained them during the last year to two years.

Submissions should not exceed 1,500 words, but there is no minimum word requirement. Make sure your submission includes the name of the album or song, the artist, and where we can listen to it. In terms of genre and formatting, as always Mycelium is looking for something out of the ordinary. It doesn't have to exactly be a review, though it can be. You could write a poem in the style of your favorite lyricist. You could try to transcribe what you hear in the instrumentals into the written word. You could do a reading of your favorite album through the analytical lens of your favorite literary theorist. So many options!
The connecting force for this issue will be very broadly music and how it cares for and sustains us. We aren't looking for abstract philosophical ramblings on the subject, but actual applications of it shown to us through the music you truly love.
We ask that you avoid writing about albums with themes of sexual, gendered, or racial violence, or with any themes of general overt violence.

All submissions should be sent to myceliumlit@gmail.com in a single document. This document should have no identifying information. In the subject line of the email, please write “Mycelium Submission: Music Issue.”

What is keeping you alive? We are open to accepting submissions in any genre including but not limited to: essay, poetry, short fiction, photography, recipe, and comic book. Show us your connections, your progress, your decay. Please see above for more details concerning general guidelines
